biography
I have found the thing I most like doing. Writing songs. In the last 4 years I've written well over 200 of them. I play the piano, guitar & banjo and write songs that are melodic, moving and comic. I've been gigging at venues such as The Hope & Anchor, The Progress Bar, The River-Bar, and The Comedy. I go to lots of open-mics around London and regularly to The Virtually Acoustic Club's open-mic at The Progress Bar, where I was the host for the Clown Theme Night. See photos here:

I also host "Jenty's Melody Night", at Jazz After Dark, Soho.

I earn my living as Jenty-the-Gentle-Clown entertaining children all over London. You can listen to a radio interview here:

Also, at the moment, I do role-play jobs, in a smart, serious suit, at business training & assessment centres. As an actor my work has included; Brecht (Southwark Playhouse), Shakespeare (Ravenscourt Park), Shaw (QE2), modern plays (Camden People's Theatre), children's theatre (Polka) & musicals (Drill Hall & Tour de Force). At The Queen Elizabeth Hall, I sang solo & played banjo for the Pete Seeger song "Little Girl/Hiroshima", for a celebration of the Turkish poet, Nazim Hikmet. I trained in acting at Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art, after getting a BA Hons in Theatre Studies & Dramatic Arts from Warwick University.

I've been on some great songwriting courses run by Heidi Berry & Astrid Williamson, Ray Davies, Barry Mason, Tom Robinson, and Willy Russell & Tim Firth. Also, I'm part of a group of fellow songwriters, that meets once a month at The Progress Bar. We share musical skills, songs, support each other & write together. It's open to all, so if you are interested in getting more information or joining us, please contact me on jenty@jenty.co.uk

My favourite songwriters include Kirsty MacColl, Carole King, Bill Withers, Stevie Wonder and Jason Mraz.
